Northern Kentucky HS Football - Week 3
9/2/2010 - by NKS Editor
With two weeks of High School football in the books, all the NKY teams have at least one game in their pocket. As we head into Week 3 lets take a look at some of the match-ups.

NKYSports.com HS Football Game of the Week
This week's video broadcast features Madison Central at Newport Central Catholic on Friday. The Thoroughbreds are off to a 2-0 start and are looking to make it three in a row for their new head coach, Eddie Eviston. Last year, NewCath defeated the Indians 38-12. The broadcast for this game will begin at 7:30 P.M.

Simon Kenton at Dixie
Dixie bounced back last week with a 35-21 convincing win over the Beechwood Tigers to even their record at 1-1. And, Simon Kenton lost their season opener last week 34-0, but to a very tough opponent Middletown. Our Poll of the Week currently has 53% of the fans picking Dixie in this game. This should be an interesting game to watch.

Bellevue at Holmes
Holmes (1-0) won big over Lloyd last week 46-0 but will have a much tougher opponent in Bellevue this weekend. The Tigers (1-1) got off to a slow start last week with turnovers, but with the help of their solid running back, DJ Slater, they were able to comeback and hold on to a 35-34 win over Newport.

Players of the Game - Newport vs Bellevue
During each broadcast, NKYSports.com will select a Player of the Game from each team and donate $25.00 to the team's athletic fund in the player's name. In last week's Newport vs Bellevue Game of the Week, Jacob Whaley of Newport and DJ Slater of Bellevue were selected as Player's of the Game.

DJ Slater rushed for 189 yards on 24 carries, and had 4 touchdowns and one 2-pt conversion. On defense, Slater recorded 19 tackles (8 solo, 11 assists) and 1 interception.

Jacob Whaley had a big impact on defense with 22 tackles (9 solo, 13 assists), 2 sacks, and 4 tackles for losses. On offense, Whaley had 1 reception for 35 yards.

Full Slate of NKY Football this Weekend
8/25/2010 - by NKS Editor
This weekend showcases the opening football game for most teams in Northern Kentucky with eleven teams yet to play. The slate is full and the match-ups look compelling and competitive!

NKYSports.com HS Football Game of the Week
NKYSports.com begins their broadcasting season with Newport at Bellevue. Bellevue has won the past three years so look for the Wildcats to be hungry for a win. Bellevue is coming off a 33-19 loss against Holy Cross last week while this will be Newport's season opener. Bellevue will also conduct a Hall of Fame induction ceremony before the game. You can catch this game live and in video on NKYSports.com starting at 7:00 P.M.

Ryle at Highlands
This game features No. 1 vs. No. 2, and just how good is Ryle after drilling CovCath 61-7 last week. Well, we'll find out this Friday. Highlands had no issues with Manual last week defeating them 45-14 and will be looking for their 30th straight win.

Dixie at Beechwood
Dixie is coming off a tough loss to NewCath last week in the Skyline Chili Crosstown Showdown 35-28. So, it will be interesting to see how they respond with a visit to Beechwood, who's opening their season this weekend. Last year, Dixie routed Beechwood 47-7 but had lost to Tigers the previous three years.
