The 2016 St. Elizabeth Healthcare/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 begins today and is being played in Northern Kentucky for the first time ever. The tournament is being played at the BB&T Arena with both Campbell County and Holmes playing their first round games on Wednesday night.
Campbell County (24-9) won the 10th Region over Scott HS and has a 6-game winning streak. Trimble County (24-7) won the 8th Region over Simon Kenton. These two teams have not faced each other all year but we expect it to be a very competitive game. They play on Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30 P.M.
Holmes (28-4) won the 9th Region has been dominating teams all season and didn't lose to any NKY teams all year. Their last lost came to Southwestern on Feb 5. They'll face Russell (26-8) who won the 16th Region on Wednesday, March 9 at 8:00 P.M.
We expect Holmes and Campbell County to have a very good fan base during their games.
