Three teams will represent NKY in the Kentucky State Football Finals as Beechwood, NewCath and Highlands all won on Friday. In 1A action, Beechwood was down early to Frankfort 10-0 but then came back to win easily 49-17. In 2A action, the Thoroughbreds were tied 3-3 at halftime against Louisville Desales but scored 28 unanswered points in the second half to win. In 5A action, Highlands won easily over Lincoln County 49-21. At one point the score was 49-0 in the 3rd quarter. And in 6A action, Boone County was just over-matched against Louisville Trinity with a 56-21 loss.
Beechwood and Highlands will play on Friday, December 7. The Tigers will face Lexington Christian for the Class 1A State Championship at 11:30 AM. The Bluebirds will play Bowling Green for the Class 5A State Championship at 7:30 PM.
NewCath plays on Saturday, December 8. The Breds will face Fort Campbell for the Class 2A State Championship at 11:30 AM.
All games will be played in Louisville at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
