9TH REGION FINALS BOXSCORE / SCORECARD
The NewCath bats came alive and Jeramie Connor pitched 7 strong innings to defeat CovCath 9-4 in the 9th Region Baseball Championship game.
The Breds scored runs in 5 of the 7 innings with the help of 11 hits, 4 walks, 1 hit batter, 2 CovCath errors, 2 sacrifice bunts and 1 sacrifice fly. Alex Pangallo, NewCath's shortstop, led the Breds by going 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's. Pangallo, Conner and Mark Kelly all had triples for the Breds.
Jeramie Connor recorded his eighth win of the year giving up only 2 earned runs, 6 hits, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts and 1 hit batter.
Covington Catholic could not muster any big rallies despite NewCath's 4 errors. Ryan Darner led the Colonels by going 3-for-4. Dan Niehaus pitched the loss by going 5 and 2/3 innings with 6 earned runs, 5 strikeouts, 8 hits, 2 walks and 1 hit batter.

NewCath will face LexCath in the State Sectionals at Franklin County on June 4 and 5. Game times are at 7:00 PM. This is a best-out-of-three series. The third game would be played on Friday June 6 at 7:00 PM if necessary.
