| Bishop Brossart Wins First Varsity Football Game |

It took 21 games, but the Mustangs of Bishop Brossart defeated the Betsy Layne Bobcats 22-19 to begin the 2009 season with a win and also get their first Varsity win for the Mustang football program.
Brossart jumped to a 14-0 lead but let the Bobcats back into the game and the lead and in the 2nd half found themselves down 19-14. But, the Mustangs battled to take the lead 22-19 and held off Betsy Layne in the end for their first ever Varsity win.

NewCath pulled to within 3 to make it 10-7 towards the end of the 3rd Quarter but Dixie's offense kept moving the ball in the 4th Quarter to seal the win. NewCath had four personals fouls in the game. More . .

Ryle rushed all over the Colonels with 445 yards rushing led by Travis Elliott, 26 rushes for 236 yards. More . .
