District Tournament Breakdown

32nd District at Simon Kenton
Williamston will face Grant County in the first of two games set for Tuesday night. The second game will feature Walton Verona against Simon Kenton. Grant County looks to be the favorite coming out of the 32nd as well as a serious contender in the 8th region tournament. The Braves (13-4) went 3-0 against district opponents as well as 7-0 in regional matchups. The championship game will be played Wednesday at 7:00.

33rd District at Ryle
It is considered one of the toughest districts in the 9th region. Play began yesterday with Boone County taking on Cooper. The Rebels got out to a 6-0 lead before the game was called in the 5th due to weather. It is set to resume today at 4:30. In the bottom half of the bracket Conner plays Ryle on Tuesday. The final will be Wednesday at 5:30. Whomever comes out as the winner should be the favorite for the 9th region championship.

34th District at Lloyd
Ludlow and Villa Madonna were supposed to start off district play Monday night but the game was postponed due to weather. The winner of this matchup will face district leading Dixie in the second round. St. Henry will play host Lloyd tonight the winning team will go on to play in the district championship Thursday at 5:00.

35th District at Meinken Field
Also, argued with the 33rd as being the toughest district in the 9th region 3 out of 4 teams are in the top 10. Tuesday night will feature Holmes against Beechwood. The Tigers handled Holmes easily in their only matchup of the season. Beechwood beat Holy Cross in their regular season game and also split 2 games against CovCath. Holy Cross will play Covington Catholic Wednesday night. The Colonels took 2 of 3 from the Indians during the season. The championship game will be Thursday at 5:30.

36th District at Bellevue Vets
Despite the bad weather Newport Central Catholic and Highlands were able to play their game on Monday night. The Thoroughbreds won impressively over their district rival 20-6. Tuesday will pit host Bellevue against Newport. By draw Dayton received the first-round bye and will play NCC Wednesday night. It looks to be NewCath’s tournament to lose as the ‘Breds went 4-0 against district foes. The championship game will be Thursday at 5:00.

37th District at St. Mary (Bishop Brossart)
The first round of the district tournament was decided last night. Silver Grove played Scott, which won the game 7-0. Calvary Christian gave Campbell County everything they had last night but came up short 5-6 in 8 innings. Campbell will advance to the championship game. Brossart received the first-round bye and will play Scott tonight for a championship game berth. If the Mustangs can make it out of the district they look to have a legitimate shot at winning the 8th region.
