Big basketball expectatioins for NDA

The Pandas, 25-6 in 2011-12, return to action this season after a hard-fought, overtime loss in the KHSAA 9th Region championship game. They are currently ranked #1 in the Enquirer's Coaches' Poll starting the young season with a 2-0 record, including a win over Louisville Assumption.

Notre Dame Academy is coached by Nicole Levandusky begins her 4th season as Head Coach at Notre Dame Academy with a career record of 62-30 (.674) at NDA. Nicole was inducted into the Xavier University basketball Hall of Fame class of 2010 in recognition of her accomplishments both as a Musketeer and as a member of the WBNA's Los Angeles Sparks.

Notre Dame returns two starters from last season’s 9th Region Finalist squad, including NCAA Division I prospects Olivia Voskuhl (basketball) and Elly Ogle (volleyball).

Here's a closer look at their top players:

Olivia Voskuhl, a 5’10” senior guard, was selected as a member of the Northern Kentucky Basketball Coaches Association Division I All-Star Team, the KHSAA 9th Region All-Tournament team and was named KHSAA 35th District Tournament MVP. Olivia earned a spot on the Junior Kentucky All-Star team over the summer. A 2-sport star, Olivia is also the goal keeper for the NDA Soccer team who is coming off of back-to-back trips to state championships. The “lefty” is expected to accumulate her 1000th point as a Panda early in the season and plans to continue her basketball career at Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH.

Elly Ogle, a 5’10” junior guard, was named to the KHSAA 35th District All-Tournament team last season. Elly is the team’s most versatile athlete, also a 2-sport star who plans to continue her volleyball career at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Carlee Clemons, a 5’10” junior guard, and a member of the NKY JV All-Tournament team one year ago, returns as a veteran and is expected to advance beyond role play this season to join Voskul and Ogle in what will likely be one of the tallest backcourt trios in the state.

Paige Kellam, a 5’8” junior guard, will fill the vacated and rather large shoes of Chandler Clark at point guard this season. Kellam and Clemons were both members Northern Kentucky’s Shining Stars, 2012 AAU National Champions.

Haylee Smith, a 5’11” sophomore post player and star softball pitcher, is expected to step in and make a significant impact underneath in her first season as a Panda.
