The Beechwood Tigers will once again be a contender to make a run at the Class A State Championship. They fell one game short last year in the Semifinals against Mayfield 35-14.
Overall, they finished last year at 9-5 with Head Coach Noel Rash who enters his 7th year of coaching at Beechwood. The Tigers will be without their star running back this year, Max Nussbaum, who graduated to play at Eastern Kentucky University. But, return several key players on offense with Seniors' Devon Everett (WR), Mitch Thomas (RB), Max Shover (WR), Luke Maricle (OL) and Joe Macejko (OL). The offense will also rest on the shoulders of Sophmore QB, Kyle Fieger, who started a few games at the end of last year.
Some other players that will be key on defense include Jonathon Stokes (DE), Riley McKown (DT) and Jack Talley (LB).
According to coach Rash, "We will have great team speed on both sides of the ball, but none of that will matter if we don’t have the mental focus and maturity needed to carry us through 15 weeks. We must develop a tough and nasty approach to the daily grind and every Friday night. Our linemen must dominate the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. This team has a chance to do something special and that is saying a lot considering the huge successes of so many past teams."
