Week 2 offers some city rilvary matchups as Newport Catholic goes up against Newport (city of Newport) and Holy Cross plays Holmes (city of Covington). Newport Catholic is coming off a tough 7-6 road loss against Belfry. With a couple minutes remaning in the game, the Breds went for the win going for the 2-point conversion. The conversion failed sending the Breds home to get ready for Newport and a chance to play on the newly renovated Newport field.
Both Holy Cross and Holmes won their games last week but Holy Cross did it in comeback fashion scoring 10 points in the last 3 minutes of the game. Scott had jumped to a 21-7 lead against the Indians of Holy Cross, but Holy Cross kept their heads up and never gave up. The match-up vs. the Bulldogs of Holmes should be a good one.
