The rain didn’t stop the Holy Cross Indians from trouncing the Bellevue Tigers 30-0 on Friday, September 22. The Indians victory kept them atop the Class A district standings.
The Tigers began the game on a rough start by losing a fumble on their own 31-yard line just seventeen seconds into the game. Holy Cross converted the turnover into a touchdown pass to Jeremy Cross.
The Indians tacked on another touchdown in the first quarter with Phillip Moore running in the end zone from one yard out.
The Tigers had difficulty stopping the Indians offense. Holy Cross Quarterback Matt Abeling had 164 yards passing while they Holy Cross running backs combined for 151 yards on the ground. The Tigers countered with just 10 yards passing and 47 yards rushing.
The game was called off after over an hour of a delay and will not be rescheduled.
Holy Cross improved to 5-1 on the season and travels to Dayton next week. Bellevue fell to 2-3 and travels to Lehman Catholic (OH) next week.
