OMEGA/ProScan Game of the Week - Holy Cross vs NewCath
10/6/2016 - by NKS Editor
The OMEGA Processing / ProScan Imaging Game of the Week webcast features Holy Cross (4-2) vs NewCath (2-4).

This is a big Class 2A game for both teams as they head into District play. The winner of this game would more than likely hold the #1 seed for the District.

Last week Holy Cross defeated Bethlehem 26-0 while NewCath had a bye. The Indians played Beechwood tough a few weeks ago falling 40-33, and despite the 2-4 record for the Breds, they played some close ones against Campbell County and Conner. So we expect a good one on Friday night!

NewCath’s defense has been pretty good against the run and they will have the task of stopping the duo of Senior RB’s Derrick Barnes and Xavier Abernathy. The two have combined for 1,172 and 18 TD’s.

The Breds will be led by Senior QB Patrick Henschen and Sophomore RB Kyle Kelly. Henschen has thrown for 592 yards and 4 TD’s and also has 4 rushing TD’s. Kelly has been running strong the past several games and now has 490 yards and 6 TD’s.

You can watch this game LIVE starting at 7:00 PM on NKYSports.com!

Cooper (5-2) at Ryle (6-0)
This is another big District game in NKY as #1 ranked Ryle hosts #3 Cooper. Last week Cooper defeated Dixie 28-13 while Ryle beat George Rogers Clark 38-6. Ryle is 5-3 against Cooper but the Jaguars have won the past 2 games (last year 27-21).

Conner (5-1) at Campbell County (3-3)
This should be another great Class 6A game in Campbell County. Conner’s schedule has not been as difficult but this will be a good test to see if their #6 ranking holds true against the Camels ranked #7. Conner has only lost to Simon Kenton and they won last week 34-14 over Lloyd. Campbell County had a bye last week. Since 2005 these two teams are 6-6 against each other with Conner winning twice against the Camels last year.

Highlands (1-5) at Dixie (3-3)
Highlands had one of the toughest schedules in NKY the first 6 games and now begin their District games starting with Dixie. Highlands had a bye last week while the Colonels lost to Cooper 28-13. Highlands is 11-0 against Dixie since 2005.
