The 2006 NKYFL Super Bowl produced some of the best youth football of the season. The Campbell County Red Devils took on the Spartans in the Senior Division. Both teams played hard and the young men showed just what the Senior Division is all about. The Red Devils scored early and often to overtake the Spartans with a score of 34-8.
Junior Division saw the Red Devils trailing early to a very tough Spartan team. Both teams tried every trick in the book to get the lead but when the regulation time expired, the score was tied at 14. Overtime had the Spartans scoring first but the Red Devils denied the 2-point conversion. The Red Devils then came out full-force scoring a TD of their own. A short pass clinched the victory for the Red Devils on the 2-point try. Final score 22-20.
The Midget Divison featured the Bellevue Tigers on the Super Bowl field for the first time since 1997. They had to face off against South Kenton, who had not been to the Superbowl in 9 years. The Tigers played an extremely strong defense to deny any score by South Kenton. After moving the ball well up and down the field and 2 interceptions later, the Tigers took home the victory. Final score 14-0.
Congratulations to all the players and coaches of these teams. Keith Culp (CCRD Sr. Coach), Ken Morgan (CCRD Jr. Coach) & Joe Lay (Bellevue Tigers Coach). All deserve a big hand and a huge Thank You for the hard work and dedication they have given to the participants of the NKYFL throughout this season.
