Tournament time for NKY Basketball is just two weeks away, and now is the time teams try to gain momentum going into District play. And one of the teams back to full strength is the Holmes Bulldogs. Holmes started the season as the KY Enquirer Coaches' number 1 pick. But, after an injury to Duran Jefferson and the suspension of key starters, the Bulldogs have slipped to #5 in the coaches poll with a 17-5 record. Holmes is coming off a win over Highlands and now has everyone back for the first time all season. They have five games remaining against Boone County, NCC, Greenup County, Conner, and Elizabethtown before District play starts.
Some key games coming up this weekend include NCC (11-8) vs CovCath (17-5). CovCath had defeated the 'Breds 43-36 earlier this year and the number one ranked team will now face them on their own home court. NCC will also have to play on the road against Brossart (21-3). Brossart had defeated NCC 51-40 in the first round of the ALL 'A' Classic State Tournament enroute to their All 'A' Championship.
The Scott Eagles, winners of six of their last seven, have back-to-back night games this weekend as well. Friday night they face Conner (9-11) and Saturday they'll go up against Ryle (8-14).
