SWEET 16 BOYS BROADCASTS
The Holmes Bulldogs knew it would be a dog fight to win the 9th Region Championship and a birth to the Kentucky Sweet 16, but it was a dog fight the Bulldogs would eventually win in OT 72-60. Holmes was up early but in the second half CovCath would come back to tie the game at 45. The game was tied at 54 when CovCath got off a 3-point shot at the buzzer, but missed. Holmes took over in OT and never looked back.
Up next for the Bulldogs, Paducah Tilghman (25-7), winner of the 1st Region. Holmes will play in Lexington, KY at Rupp Arena on Wednesday, March 21 at 8:00 PM.
In the 8th Region, Simon Kenton also went into overtime with their opponent, Oldham County. Simon Kenton led most of the game but Oldham County was able to prevail with a 63-57 win in OT.
In the 9th Region for the girls, Notre Dame Academy had beaten Holmes to advance to the Girls Sweet 16 being played in Bowling Green, KY at EA Diddle Arena. The Pandas will now face Shelby County (26-8) on Thursday, March 15 at 1:30 PM.
