The road to the Kentucky State Baseball tournament begins today as the Northern Kentucky teams begin District tournament action. In the 32nd District Simon Kenton (11-17), who has won 5 of their last 6 will face Grant County who they beat earlier in the year. In the 33rd District, Conner (18-16) will face Heritage and St. Henry (19-11) will play Boone County (18-13). Ryle (28-6) is the favorite in this District and will face the winner of Connor/Heritage. For the 35th District, two of NKY's top teams will play in the first round as Holy Cross (21-10) faces CovCath (25-9). And unfortunately, one of these teams will be eliminated from the tournament after today. These 2 teams have played three times already with CovCath winning two but Holy Cross won the most recent meeting 2-1. In the 36th District, Highlands (20-12) will be the favorite to win the District. They will play Dayton first with NewCath (12-16) awaiting the winner of that game. The other 36th District game features Bellevue (11-16) vs Newport (5-17). And in the 37th District, it's hard to tell who's going to win this District as Brossart (21-12), Campbell County (17-13), and Scott (16-12) all have a shot. Scott will face Campell County in the first round while Brossart awaits the winner of Silver Grove/Calvary Christian.
