Bellevue, KY - The Bellevue Athletic Hall of Fame Board of Directors would like to announce the following inductions:
James "Bus" Clark-class of 1929
-Played football, basketball and baseball
-Captain of the football team
Art Mergenthal-class of 1939
-All No. KY, All-Conference and All-State in football
-4-year track participant
Jim "Red" Dougherty-class of 1942
-All-Conference in football
-Played basketball and ran track
-Placed 3rd in the state in the 440-yard dash
Steele Harmon-Class of 1952
-Five sport star in high school and college. He earned 17 letters at Centre College.
-Member of the 1951 football state championship team; Head football coach '58-'59
-Regional doubles tennis champion
Janine Thoney Walz-class of 1964
-Girls' regional tennis champion 4 consecutive years
-Earned 7 varsity tennis letters, including 3 on the boys' team
-Voted best athlete of her senior class
Jim Riddle-class of 1968
-Earned 15 letters while participating in 4 varsity sports
-All-state selection in football and basketball
-Part of the 1,000 point club
-Member of the back to back track state chamionship teams in '67 and '68
Bill Nagel-class of 1969
-Holds the single game scoring record for the school with 45 points
-Had a game in which he grabbed 32 rebounds
-Led the 9th region in scoring (27.2 PPG) and rebounding (19.8 RPG)
Harold "Pep" Stidham-coached from 1973-1998
-Coach 2 state championship girls' track teams in '84 and '86 as well as many individual state champions
-He coached the cross-country team for 21 years
-The Bellevue track complex is named in his honor
Steve Ridder-class of 1977
-3rd all time in assists, points and rebounds at Bellevue
-Outstanding baseball player
-Currently the head basketball coach at Embry-Riddle, National Champs in 2000
Lisa Luthy Nessler-class of 1978
-Earned 9 letters in volleyball, basketball and track
-All-region and All-state in volleyball; led team to 3rd place finish in state tourney
-All-region and All-state honorable mention in basketball
-Ran in the state track meet 4 years with a state championship in the 60-yard dash
Debbie Kappes-class of 1981
-All-conference and All-region in volleyball; All-district basketball player
-Played on 3 consecutive undefeated conference champion teams
Lisa Auteri McIntyre-class of 1982
-Participated in volleyball, basketball, track and tennis
-All-region in volleyball for 3 years
-Is the 2nd ranked scorer, boys or girls, at Bellevue in basketball with 1,644 points
-All-region and All-state honorable mention in basketball
-Had a 40-point game vs. Boone Co. and a 39-point game vs. Lloyd, consecutively
Mike Sutkamp-class of 1982
-All-state in football
-Career rushing leader with 4,963 yards and scoring leader with 435 points
-Played in 3 straight state football championship games
-Holds the state record for most rushing attempts in a single season with 487 in '81
