It's the end of July and talk of High School sports in Northern Kentucky is starting to be heard again. Students are now in full swing with football and volleyball practice as their respective seasons start next month.
On August 7, the NKY girls volleyball teams will begin their season. Some good match-ups in the first game of the year feature Brossart vs Pendleton County, Simon Kenton vs Highlands, and St. Henry vs Mercy. In the 9th Region, look for Notre Dame Academy to be the favorite. And in the 10th Region, the Breds of Newport Catholic should go a long way.
The football season begins August 24 as the Friday Night lights will be on again. This will be the first season with the new 6 classes of football in Kentucky, so you will see some different teams playing each other this year. Some games of interest for the first week: Beechwood vs Dixie and Highlands vs Ryle. And the Bishop Brossart Mustangs will begin their new varsity football season against Owen County.
