Ryle Raiders 2007 Football Preview |
|
8/16/2007 - by NKS Editor |

Head Coach: Bryson Warner (29-19 in 4 Seasons)
Assistant Coaches:
Mike Woolf, Russell Harden, Sagat Giron, Dave Turner, Fred Bernier, Chuck Dickerson, Nick Humbert, Patrick Townsend, Roger Babik, Eddie Smith, Jerry Holloway
Last Year's Record: 12-3 (8-2 District)
Key Returning Starters:
Adam Schmitz (RB/LB), Josh Morgan (WR/DB), Cory Tymensky (OT), Kyle Benke (QB), Bryan Hilycord (NG), Dylan Campbell (RB/DB)
Team Strengths
On offense, Ryle returns seven starters including the entire offensive line and Quarterback, Kyle Benke. Defensively, Adam Schmitz, last year's leading tackler returns. Ryle graduated their school record kicker, Ross Uminger, but do not expect to miss a beat as Jared Kaufman takes over the kicking responsibilites.
Team Weaknesses
The leadership of Vince Murray (Navy), Scottie Gray (Marshall), and Kris Pridgen (Thomas More) provided to last year's 4A State Runner-up team will be missed. Ryle does have a strong Senior class ready to fill those rolls though. Defensively, they will be a younger team with some first time starters but early indications show the defense is coming together.
Overall Outlook
Look for Ryle to have another strong season this year and a trip to the playoffs. They should be one of the top 3 teams in Northern Kentucky and they will be tested early with their first game opponent of Highlands.
