Playoff matchups are set for the upcoming weekend:
CLASS 1A
Ludlow at Beechwood
Bellevue at Dayton
CLASS 2A
Newport at NewCath
Lloyd at Holy Cross
CLASS 5A
Scott at Highlands (NKY.com BROADCAST)
CovCath at Dixie
CLASS 6A
Campbell County at Boone County
Simon Kenton at Ryle (NKY.com BROADCAST)
The only undefeated team this year was the Highlands Bluebirds with a perfect 10-0 record. Highlands had to come from behind against Central last week and won 21-13. CovCath played Louisville St. Xavier really well in the first half and was leading 14-3 at one point but St. X rallied back to win 31-14. Another good game last week was NewCath's 41-28 win over Beechwood. Beechwood rallied back in the 4th quarter to make it 31-28 but the Bred's held the Tigers off.
This week look for the Bellevue/Dayton game to be much closer. Dayton won earlier in the year 35-8 but Bellevue had 6 turnovers in that game. Also look for a very good game between CovCath and Dixie. Dixie won their earlier matchup in September 44-28 but CovCath has improved and has their star running back Brent Buckley has returned from injury. Ryle was upset by Simon Kenton 18-10 earlier in the season so look for the Raiders to bounce back on their home field.
