In boys High School basketball action this past week - Holmes, Highlands, and Boone County each had big wins. Holmes defeated Holy Cross with ease last Friday but had to go into overtime with CovCath before pulling away with a 59-50 victory. CovCath also was defeated by Boone County last Friday 64-48.
But then Highlands defeated Boone County on Tuesday 72-65. The Bluebirds suffered their second defeat on Friday with a close game against Henry Clay losing 61-60.
So, it looks like Holmes, Highlands, Boone County and CovCath are the favorites to win the 9th Region this year. Holmes has yet to play Highlands and Boone County but will do so in back-to-back games February 7th and 11th.
