Covington Catholic lost last week to Cardinal Mooney 57-0, then started out behind 20-0 against the Breds, and the beginning of the 2008 Colonel football season didn't look so well.
CovCath scored their first 2008 touchdown in the second quarter and trailed NewCath at halftime 20-6. The Colonels then scored 18 unanswered points in the 3rd quarter to take a 24-20 lead. Then the Breds bounced back with 14 unanswered points of their own taking a 34-24 lead with only about 8 minutes remaining in the game.
The Colonels were able to keep the game close with another fourth quarter touchdown and with about 3 minutes left were down 34-31. CovCath then drove the ball down to the NCC 6-yard line before Zach Isler throws the winning touchdown to Michael Robinson with 0:26 left.
