Ryle Keeps Streak Going
10/1/2005 - by Seth Millhoan
You could tell that it was going to be a bad night for the Boone County Rebels even before the first touchdown was scored. Star offensive lineman Rocky Bleier went down with what appeared to be a broken leg on the first drive of the game and the team was obviously affected by the loss.

Ryle got the scoring started in the second quarter when Jordan Brady sneaked in for a 1-yard touchdown run. It was the first of two rushing TD's for the Senior quarterback. Brady would rush again only four minutes later to make the score 14-0 after Ross Uminger added a few extra points. Boone's first score came on a 57-yard run up the middle by Sophomore QB/RB Cory Farris. A trick play would prove effective after the TD and the Rebels were able to add a two-point conversion and make 14-8 after the first half.

Ryle came out at the start of the second half looking to add to their lead. They were able to do it when Vince Murray started running the ball all over the field. He dashed into the endzone for a 21-yard TD run. A failed two-point conversion left the score at 20-8. Boone countered when QB/RB Kyle Lightner was able to connect with WR Mercier Doucette in the endzone for six. The PAT made it 20-15. Then the explosive Raider running game took over.

Drew Morgan got the party started when he blew by the Rebel defense an scored on a 65-yard TD run to close out the third. Not to be outdone Vince Murray added two more scores of his own. One of 47-yards, the other of 48-yards, respectively. Uminger's extra points made the score 40-15 in Ryle's favor and the game was pretty muched sealed up. Boone's Kyle Arey added a late TD run from 5 yards to make the score look a little bit more respectable. Ryle wins this one going away, 40-22.

Next week Ryle (4-2) will look to keep their impressive run against the Cougars of Conner High (1-5) and Boone County (3-3) will try to rebound against Dixie (4-2).
