Bank of Ky Center Drops Ball for 9th/10th Region Tournament
2/17/2009 - by NKS Editor
For the past several years, NKY High School football and basketball games have been broadcasted over the internet and radio. Dave Schabell has been broadcasting Bishop Brossart basketball the past 6-7 years over the internet, Mark Wehry and his crew have been broadcasting football, basketball and other sports for Covington Catholic, and yours truly, NKYSports.com has been a past contributor to High School webcasts for schools all over Northern Kentucky.

But, for this year's 9th and 10th Region basketball tournaments held at the new Bank of Kentucky Center, the broadcasts will not be allowed for Brossart, CovCath, NKySports.com or any other local radio/tv station. In a press release this morning from Molly Pascucci, GM of the BOKC, "In order to ensure and maximize the funds to each participating school, The Bank of Kentucky Center, after consulting with representatives from each region, has made the decision to restrict the broadcasting of these games. Participating schools that reside outside a 30-mile radius from the Center will be given the opportunity to broadcast (via radio only) their respective school’s games."

This is very disappointing and a huge let down to the Northern Kentucky High School community. Both Brossart and CovCath have many alumni all over the world including those in the military who listen to the online broadcasts. The Bank of Kentucky Center has dropped the ball on this decision.
