The Northern Ky Sports Hall of Fame will induct 4 new members into their organization on Wednesday February 17, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at the Villa Hills Civic Club Hall at 729 Rogers Rd., Villa Hills KY. Guest speaker for the ceremony will be Bruce Ferguson. The new members being inducted are:
Robert (Bob) Hinkel – Lakeside Park KY - Bob dedicated himself to youth sports in Knothole with the Lewisburg Sluggers, and B & A Montgomery Coal. He pitched American Legion Baseball. Also pitched for St. Aloysius and the CYO All Star 3 Years Running.
Bob Played 3rd base for Ruttle Florist, Bockwegs, Standard Club and Almac Electric. On Sundays he played at Shady Shores with the Goodtimers. He dedicated hours of his life with the construction of DCCH Ball Fields that bears his name!
Shayne Beckett – Burlington KY - Shayne participated in football , track, and basketball. He played on many local softballs teams. He is noted for his outstanding play at tailback for Boone County High School where they won the Regional Championship. He set a state record with a 99-yard touchdown run, and currently rates 7th as Boone County’s all-time rusher with 3,700 yards. Shayne was a 3-time All Conference plus 2 time All First Team member. A little know fact, Shayne started varsity basketball as a freshmen at Scott HS before moving to Boone County.
Tom Dilts - Dayton KY – A graduate of Dayton HS where he played basketball. After graduation, Tom spent many hours mentoring the City of Dayton youth. He spent 20 some odd years coaching and promoting the youth of Dayton KY. Tom has been the director of Boys and Girls youth basketball in Dayton. A well loved person, Tom took over a stagnate Dayton High School Boys Basketball program and looks as if it has turned around! Tom has lead the Dayton Boys Basketball team to their first winning season in over 15 years. Tom’s dedication, determination and integrity has led him to be a real role model in the community.
Donald (AIM) Ammon – California, KY - Aim was a star athletic from the 40’s through 60’s. It was hard to find a better 3rd baseman, and he also pitched. Aim was on the CYO All-star squad on numerous occasions. He grew up on Main Street in Covington, KY. Aim also played American Legion Baseball against past Hall of Famers, likes of Paul Zembrodt. Aim finished his playing days on the softball fields of Covington when they were at their finest!
