All A Roundup
The All A Tournament for the 9th and 10th region boys basketball has finished up with two winners advancing to the state tournament. The 9th region championship game featured Newport Central Catholic against Holy Cross. A very evenly matched game from the start saw NCC up 25-23 at halftime; however the second half was not the same story. NewCath had a great showing outscoring Holy Cross 51-24 after halftime making this game a non-contest, finishing 76-47. Senior Center Jake Giesler put up 17 points and 12 rebounds earning a spot on the All Tournament Team.

In the 10th region championship game, the Brossart Mustangs faced the Black Devils of Deming. From the tip, this game was a battle. At the end of the 4th quarter the game was tied 52 all needing overtime to decide this one. Junior Austin Trentman put in the go ahead basket for the Mustangs at the 2 minute mark. Brossart was able to hold on for a 59-56 win to take them to the All A State Tournament for the second straight year.
Both teams will now head to Mcbrayer Arena on the campus of Eastern Kentucky University. NewCath will face Edmonson County on Thursday, February 3rd at 1:00. Meanwhile Bishop Brossart will play West Carter later in the day at 9:00.
Boys All A Classic State Bracket
The 9th and 10th region girls champions were decided the previous week with NCC and Walton-Verona representing there respective regions. Both teams will play Wednesday, February 2nd at EKU. NewCath will face St. Patrick at 5:00 while Walton-Verona will match up against Danville at 6:30.
