After a whirlwind of games the district championships are upon us. With all teams advancing to the regional matchups, each respective team is playing for the higher seed.
Thursday night Covington Catholic will take on the Bulldogs of Holmes High School in the 35th district boys championship. This looks to be a great matchup as Holmes only won by four points in their only regular season meeting. Thursday will feature all but one of the girl’s district championship games.
In the 33rd district, two power houses will face off in Ryle and Boone County who have battled for Northern Kentucky supremacy all year. The 34th matches up a tough game for Villa Madonna as they host St. Henry. Notre Dame Academy faces Holy Cross who played the Pandas close in the regular season for the 35th district championship. Campbell County and Brossart will play for the 37th. The #3 rated girl’s team in NKY, NewCath, will play Highlands on Friday in the 36th.
Friday night heats up with boy’s basketball in full force. In the 33rd district, Boone County will look to come back from the scare Cooper gave them. They will play Ryle who they split games with in the regular season. The 34th district pits surprise St. Henry, who upset Lloyd, against 9th region favorite Dixie. Scott faces Campbell County in the 37th, a team the Eagles beat by seven this year. On Saturday, NewCath will round out district play as they look to continue their dominance against Highlands.
