The Dixie Heights Colonels (1-4) came in against the Beechwood Tigers (2-3) Friday night. Max Nussbaum (#44) led the Tigers to victory against the Colonels with a final score of 33-28.
The first quarter opened with Nussbaum running an 87 yard touchdown; the extra point was scored by kicker Miles Sletto (#13). Following the first touchdown, Beechwood’s Nathan Kinman (#14) ran for a 36 yard touchdown with the extra point being good. However, on the next drive, the Colonels pushed back into Tiger territory. Casey Cox (#20) scored a 33 yard touchdown; the extra point being good by kicker Darion Washington (#30).
The second quarter opened with Beechwood’s first drive. Nussbaum ran a 51 yard touchdown; the extra point being good. The first half ended with a score of 21-7, Tigers leading.
Opening the second half, a holding penalty on the Tigers, pushed them back to their 38 yard line. On Dixie’s first drive in the second half, a pass to Dixie’s Joe Radenhausen (#4) took them to the Tiger’s 4 yard line. Dixie’s Ben Owens (#31) then ran it in for a touchdown. On the Tigers’ next drive, however; Nussbaum carried the ball back into Dixie territory. Tiger’s quarterback Jason Suchanek (#10) then threw for a short touchdown. The extra point was blocked.
The fourth quarter began with Dixie Heights driving into Tigers’ territory. Owens ran a 1 yard touchdown. Later in the quarter, Nussbaum completed a pass to Suchanek who then ran a 35 yard touchdown. However, the two-point conversion was no good. On Dixie Height’s next drive, Cameron Farmer (#34) ran a 4 yard touchdown; the extra point being good. That was the end of scoring for both teams. The game ended with the Beechwood Tigers winning 33-28.
