The Highlands Bluebirds defeated the Campbell County Fighting Camels Friday night 23-16.
The first quarter opened with Highlands scoring a safety after Campbell County’s Carson Plessinger (#23) was sacked in the end zone. Highland’s Alex Venneman (#6) then scored a 40 yard TD reception with an extra point bringing the score to 9-0 Highlands.
During Highland's next drive, Venneman was forced out of bounds at the 15 yard line. Beau Hoge (#7) then ran the ball into the end zone on the next play. An extra point was scored bringing the score to 16-0 Highlands.
Hoge’s next touchdown was a 27 yard run and the extra point was good resulting in a 23-0 score at the end of the first quarter.
There was no more scoring for either team until the fourth quarter. The second and third quarter consisted of injuries, incomplete passes, and several penalties. Highlands recording 112 yards in penalties.
The fourth quarter opened with Campbell County’s Plessinger scoring a touchdown along with a 2 point conversion bringing the score to 23-8 Highlands.
After an incomplete pass by Highland's Beau Hoge, the ball was turned over to Campbell County. Plessinger threw a 46 yard touchdown pass to Matt Mayer (#42) leading to Plessinger scoring another 2 point conversion.
The game ended with Highlands winning over Campbell County 23-16.
