OMEGA Processing Game of the Week
9/25/2014 - by NKS Editor
The OMEGA Processing Game of the Week webcast features Scott (4-0) vs. Cooper (3-2).

District play begins this weekend and these two Class 5A schools look to be the favorites in their District. This game will be Scott’s first true test as they’ve pretty much walked through their first 4 games. Last week the Eagles defeated Holy Cross 48-14.

Cooper won their first 3 games but have lost the past 2. Last week they lost to Simon Kenton 46-0. But look for Cooper to be ready in this very important District match-up.

On the field, Scott is led by their rushing attack. Junior RB Roberto London has rushed for 521 yards and 6 TD’s while Junior RB Deondre Pleasant has rushed for 389 yards and 5 TD’s.

The Jaguars are led by Junior RB Torey Cordell-Armstrong and Senior QB Billy Prickett. Cordell-Armstrong has rushed for 423 yards and 3 TD’s while Prickett has thrown for 492 yards and 6 TD’s.

Overall, Cooper is 4-1 against Scott but lost last year 28-21.

CovCath (3-1) at Highlands (4-0)
Nothing new here, this is a very big game for both teams as they begin District play. CovCath’s only loss this year came to powerhouse Moeller. The Colonels should be well rested as they had a bye last week.

CovCath is led by Senior QB Adam Wagner and the Senior WR corps of Lee McClure and Logan McDowell. Wagner leads the team in rushing and passing with 222 rush yards and 2 rush TD’s along with 860 passing yards and 12 pass TD’s. McClure has 291 receiving yards and 4 TD’s and McDowell has 229 receiving yards and 7 TD’s.

Highlands is led this year by Senior QB Beau Hoge and Senior WR Alex Veneman. Hoge is also a dual threat, he’s rushed for 278 yards and 8 rush TD’s while throwing for 1,033 yards and 10 TD’s. Veneman has 444 yards receiving and 7 TD’s.

Highlands has won 11 straight against CovCath. CovCath’s last win was in the 2006 Playoffs.

NewCath (0-4) at Lloyd (4-0)
While NewCath looks for their first win they won’t have to worry about playing another 5A or 6A school this weekend as District play begins for these Class 2A schools. The Breds brutal schedule includes losses to Cooper, Campbell County, Simon Kenton and Dixie.

Lloyd’s schedule has been much easier but all their wins have been blowouts. And this game should be an interesting one to watch. Expect Lloyd’s confidence and NewCath’s hunger for a win to make this a close game.

Since 2007, NewCath is 9-0 against Lloyd.
