There are multiple local teams still ranked in the AP Kentucky Top-10 rankings heading into Week 8.
Among the big schools in Class 6A is Simon Kenton ranked seventh with a 7-0 record on the year. Dixie appears in the receiving votes at twelfth after winning their last five games in a row. Dixie hosts Simon Kenton in Week 10 in an intriguing local match up.
In Class 5A, Cooper is ranked fifth despite having lost twice this season to Class 6 teams against Campbell County and Simon Kenton. Cooper earned an important win over Scott two weeks ago in what could be a decisive game in terms of deciding the top team in the district. Scott is ranked 14th in the receiving votes with the Cooper loss being their only blemish so far in 2014.
There are two teams ranked in the top-10 of the Class 4A, topped by Highlands who is ranked first and Covington Catholic ranked eighth. The Bluebirds are undefeated this season and beat the Colonels in Fort Thomas on Week 6. Cov Cath is currently in the midst of a two-game losing streak after losing to Beechwood at home last week.
Lloyd is now ranked in the Class 2A receiving votes fresh off of scoring 50 points against Holy Cross last week. The Juggernauts are 5-1 this year and travel to Brossart this week in what should be a winnable game.
In Class 1A, Beechwood has moved up to fourth after upsetting Cov Cath on the road Saturday. The Tigers have now won four in a row after dropping their first two this year. They host an up-and-down Bellevue team on Friday.
