Newport Central Catholic High School has named Greg Enxel its new girls cross-country coach.
Enxel began coaching at the high school level in 2001 with Bishop Brossart. In 2011, he accepted the position as head coach for the boys and girls track program at Lloyd Memorial High School. He has also worked as a volunteer coach at St. Joseph Cold Spring.
"I am very excited to be given this opportunity to coach at NCC. I look forward to working with the student-athletes to instill drive, work ethic, and determination to achieve great things on the cross-country course, in the classroom, and in life," said Enxel.
Coach Enxel will fill the vacant position left by Dave Meyers who had coached the girls in cross country and track for several seasons. This summer, Meyers accepted a position at Beechwood High School.
"Hiring Coach Enxel will make for a smooth transition for our girls cross-country program. Greg is already familiar with NewCath and his experience as a coach speaks for itself," said Rob Detzel, NCC Athletic Director.
